"Now that I can see it all as from a lonely hilltop, I know it was the story of a mighty vision given to a man too weak to use it; of a holy tree that should have flourished in a people's heart with flowers and singing birds, and now is withered; and of a people's dream that died in bloody snow."
--Nicholas Black Elk (1863-1950) on the Battle at Wounded Knee
Jill Stuart's F/W10 collection is so exciting! BIG chunky knits, lace-up boots to the neck, a touch of military coupled with a Mongolian warrior princess belt, tight green plaid, a sexy little velvet dress..... this describes just a few. All my favorites. What more could an army green obsessed, Black sex-boot hoarding, tight dress/ chunky knit loving, Capone n Noreaga listening, glamour grunge punk like myself dream for? Not Much. Except that it would all be neatly folded in the closet the next time I stand there (like in front of the fridge) waiting for something new and tantalizing to materialize.
I Wore this to the show... JILL STUART knit angora dress and suede boots
Not counting on the fact that everyone would be in uniform black. I couldn't hug anyone, there's still white angora floating around the apt. even on the keys as I type. I loved it though, I think I might be an under cover sweater fetter.
Shout out to Chrissie Miller and Cass Bird the genius' behind this magic. One day when Coney Island is reduced to a corporate-run theme park, sans the crackhead culture which now prevails on the boardwalk any given night from May to October .... This little film will become a valuable archive of the specialness that Coney once was. Apparently Tila Tequlla gave us 5 stars, I didn't know she was into real tits and grungy boys. Oh well. You can catch the full film on youtube.
